摘要

Tremendous quantities of nutrients are required to produce the food necessary to feed the country. Continuous use of high levels of fertilizers over a prolonged period is posing a great threat to soil as well as environmental quality. High fertilizerrates are now required to achieve yields that were obtainable with low inputs during the earlier phase of green revolution and are a clear indication towards degrading soil base. Moreover, the cost of production of chemical fertilizers has increased tremendously with the rise in prices of raw material and energy. Authors provide useful information on organic sources and their contribution in saving fertilizer which is need of the day.
