Participatory validation of indigenous agricultural technologies and farmers' experimentation capacity building

摘要

Indigenous knowledge system has been the bedrock of survival strategies for civilizations across the globe. Rural communities used local resources for meeting the demands of food, feed, fuel and fibre. Though local wisdom and skill played a crucial role in decision-making and efficient farm management by the farmers, in the process of modernization they began to lose their significance. Of late, there is growing recognition of indigenous knowledge system for the development of alternatives to ecologically damaging agricultural practices and ensuring sustainable development.
