摘要

Rebamipide (RBP) is an antiulcer (gastric cytoprotectant) drug. Two simple, rapid and economical 'Zero Order UV-Spectrophotometric (method I)' and 'First Order Derivative spectrophotometric (method II)' using Area Under Curve (AUC) technique were developed for estimation of RBP in bulk and tablets. In methanol, RBP showed maximum absorbance at 229.20 nm. In method I, AUC between two wavelengths 216.2 nm & 235.2 nm were selected. In method II, UV-spectrum of RBP was derivatized into first order and two wavelengths 230.8 nm and 239.0 nm were selected for determination of AUC. In both these methods, RBP obeyed linearity in the concentration range of 2-14 mcg/mL (r~2> 0.99). Proposed methods were applied for tablet formulations and amounts of RBP estimated by method I and method II were found to be 99.30 ? 1.55 and 99.99 ? 1.37, respectively. Both these methods were validated statistically and by recovery experiments.
