摘要

Growth in lambs is dependent on the quantity of milk consumed during the early part of life. Pre-weaning growth affects the post-weaning growth, reproduction and production of animals (Singh et al., 2013). Alterations in foetal nutrition caused permanent changes in the structure, physiology, metabolism and post-natal growth of the offspring (Wu et al., 2006). Nutrition of dam during pregnancy influences blood metabolites of lambs. Supplementary feeding of ewes during gestation and lactation increased weight gain in lambs (Chaturvedi et al., 2008). Keeping in view of the aforesaid facts, a study was undertaken to observe the effects of a concentrate supplement to ewes in late pregnancy on lamb's growth and their metabolic profile.
