German refineries produced 7.7pc more in April than a year earlier, when maintenance reduced output significantly. The utilisation rate went up to 92pc in April from 85.1pc a year earlier. A four-week shutdown at Shell’s 140,000 b/d Wesseling refinery, as well as a three-week shutdown of the 208,000 b/d PCK-Schwedt refinery, reduced production last year.
