Constraints faced and suggestions made to improve activities of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Maharashtra

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) were designed to provide skill, oriented vocational training to the practising farmers, rural youths, in-service field level extension workers and to those who intend to go for self-employment. After the establishment ofAgricultural Universities during Sixties, the first landmark in the history of agriculture, the second came in 1974, when the first KVK was established in Pondicherry by the ICAR. Above all, most of the KVKs are located in rural areas with multitude of problems. It demands ingenuity, innovations and sensitivity to deal with the challanges in the midst of scarcity. However, many KVKs are failed to achieve the mandates and objectives as given by the ICAR due to many constraints faced at internal and external levels. Hence, this study gave special emphasis on collection of the information related to constraints faced by the KVK as well as the beneficiaries of the KVK and some suggestions to solve their problems.
