Plantago ser. Brasilienses, a taxonomic revision

Plantagoser.Brasiliensesbelongs to subgen.Psyllium(Juss.) Harms sect.GnaphaloidesBarn., and is found in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and S Brazil. Three species are recognized:P. brasiliensisSims,P. densa(Pilger) Rahn (stat. nov.), andP. tandilensis(Pilger) Rahn (stat. nov.).Plantago johnstoniPilger is transferred toP.ser.Sericeae, andP. sericeaRuizPav. ssp.araucanaRahn belonging to that series is described as a new subspecies. Statistical data have been used in key and descriptions.
