See the Original Article on page 169.: In this issue of the Journal, Laugesen et al. provide an assessment of the SphygmoCor device for generating central aortic pressure noninvasively from the radial artery pressure waveform in diabetic subjects. Clearly, it is important for potential users to be comfortable with a system such as this, especially when the core patent (of mathematical transfer function use under different circumstances) has expired, other devices that use similar technology are now available, and all such devices are being used much more frequently than in the past and in different clinical conditions.
