In the present study different bacterial samples from the soil of different places of Dibrugarh were isolated and incubated in presence of penicillin G (2 mg/ml) for 48 hours at 37deg C for biotransformation to 6-amino penicillanic acid which was detected by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). Among 15 isolated bacterial samples, two gram positive bacterial samples designated as AKDD-7 and AKDD-9 produced 6-APA from penicillin G. Assessment of production of 6-APA was carried out by two selected samples separately in free and K-Carragennan immobilized state through HPLC in first stage after incubation in penicillin G (2 mg/ml) for 48 hours. Reusability of immobilized cells was found successful for production of 6-APAfrom penicillin G after one-day cold-preservation and another seven days' cold preservation in the second and third stage respectively.
