The Diencephalic Syndrome of Emaciation

摘要

A case of the diencephalic syndrome of emaciation is presented. The underlying cause of this syndrome is a tumour, often an optic glioma. In this patient plasma growth hormone was constantly elevated. A possible role of this hormone in the pathogenesis of the emaciation is shortly discussed. Extensive metabolic studies performed in this case will be presented elsewhere.
