From working within the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) in a busy London hospital, it was seen that there were regular delays in patients returning to the wards in a timely manner and this impacted on the * service. In order to establish the extent of the problem, two clinical audits were conducted that looked at the length of and reasons for these delays.
