This paper describes policy initiatives in microfinance for dairy development in India. It is established that promotion of dairy development under microfinance should invariably ensure capacity building and imparting skills to rural women and dairy producers regarding scientific management of milk animals i.e., selection of milk animals of good breeds, proper housing, balanced feeding, disease prevention and vaccination, timely and regular breeding, adoption of clean milk production and proper marketing of milk.
