摘要

Farmers planning to construct new steel, concrete or timber-framed buildings are being warned to check that their design and materials are CE marked.A new EU ruling which comes into force on 1 July places the onus on the client to ensure that the company supplying the frame is fully compliant. In the most serious of cases, prison sentences are a possibility for breaking the rules.CE marking is used across a whole range of industries to show that a product is manufactured to meet baseline standards. The change is not expected to place any additional cost on farm businesses but the government says that it will provide reassurance that the workmanship and materials are of the best quality and that a building is fit for purpose.
