摘要

The existence and quantity of reduced volatile phosphorus compounds (phosphine, diphosphine) in aquatic ecosystems have been in question for several decades. Early studies reported that obligate anaerobic bacteria could reduce organic phosphorus compounds and phosphate to phosphine (Rudakov 1929, Tsubota 1959). As a result of methodological uncertainties (earlier methods did not allow for the unequivocal identification of phosphine, both quantitative and qualitative) results from these earlier studies were questioned (Burford Bremner 1972). Devai et al. (1988) were the first to detect phosphine measured by both GC and MS techniques. The interest and research in phosphine formation in ecosystems expanded rapidly following this reported study. Dozens of papers have since been published on phosphine formation and production in aquatic environment (Devai DeLaune 1995, Devai et al. 1999, Roels Verstraete 2001). These findings showed that phosphorus redox chemistry and biological phosphine formation may play an important biogeochemical role in aquatic terrestrial ecosystems, expanding knowledge of the phosphorus budget in wetland areas.
