The overall availability of fertilisers, was tight during the year 2007-08, particularly of DAP and MOP in some pockets despite heavy imports. The stock of urea with states was 1.03 million tonnes at the beginning of the year (1st April, 2007) which declined to 0.95 million tonnes at the end of Kharif season (30th September, 2007). However, the level of stock was comfortable during Rabi and the season ended with the stock of 1.26 million tonnes as on 31st March, 2008.
