Customised fertilisers present an immense opportunity for decentralised production and marketing to cater to the farmers of a specified area, soil and crop specific fertilisers. Such fertilisers offer value addition to all stake holders. In light of this the Government of India have come out with Guidelines for manufacture and sale of customised fertilisers under Clause 20-B of Fertiliser (Control) Order (FCO), Sequel to these guidelines, process steps for seeking permission for manufacturing and sale of customised fertilisers have been outlined. Also analysed in detail is the technical and commercial appropriateness of the compound granulation or steam granulation route for manufacture of customised fertilisers.
