Fertiliser consumption: Fertiliser consumption recorded a negative growth during 2007-08. The consumption of total fertiliser nutrients (N+P+K) at 169 thousand tonnes during 2007-08, recorded a sharp decline of 16.8% over 2006-07. The consumption of N, P2O5 and K2O at 95.4, 37.4 and 36.6 thousand tonnes during 2007-08, declined by 7%, 26.7% and 26.8%, respectively, over 2006-07. NPK use ratio marginally changed from 2.1:1:1 during 2006-07 to 2.6:1:1 during 2007-08. The Kharif: Rabi share in total consumption changed significantly from 44:66 during 2006-07 to 61:39 during 2007-08. Subsequently, the consumption of total nutrients per hectare of gross cropped area went down from 54.6 kg during 2006- 07 to 45.4 kg during 2007-08.
