Production of fertiliser nutrient N at 1.180 million metric tonnes (MMT) during January 2016 registered increase of 4.5% over January 2015. Conversely, production of P2O5 at 0.373 MMT declined by 5.3% during the period. Among the major fertilisers, production of urea and DAP recorded increase of 6% and 16.1%, respectively, during January 2016 over January 2015. However, the production of NP/NPK complex fertilisers and SSP registered decline of 16.1% and 18.4%, respectively, during the period. Compared to target, production of N and P2O5 fell short by 38.5 and 49.1 thousand tonnes, respectively, during January 2016. Capacity utilisation of N improved from 100.1% during January 2015 to 104.4% during January 2016. In case of P2O5, it reduced from 71% to 66.7% during the same period.
