Mitsubishi cost cutting pays off early

Ab volvo and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation believe new moves to strengthen their financial links will lead to the creation of the world's biggest truck and bus manufacturing group. After long-running discussions aimed at furthering collaboration between the companies, agreement has been reached for the Swedish company to take a five per cent stake in Mitsubishi and for the Japanese company to take up to five per cent of Volvo shares by the end of 2002.
