Field experiments were conducted during 2008-09 and 2009-10, New Delhi, to study the effects of summer green manuring and Zn fertilisation on productivity and nutrient (N/ Zn) uptake in Basmati rice. The results showed considerable improvement in yield attributes and yield of rice with the application of Zn fertilisation in green manuring incorporated plots. Highest yield attributes and yield of rice were recorded under residual fertility of Sesbania aculeata and application of 2.0% zinc enrichment urea (ZEU) (ZnSO4.H2O). The highest Zn concentration and uptake by rice grain and straw were also significantly higher with Sesbania aculeata and 2.0% ZEU (ZnSO4.H2O). The highest total Zn uptake (grain + straw) was recorded viz. 2764.5 and 3085.4 g ha1, respectively with Sesbania aculeata green manuring and 2.0% ZEU (ZnSO4.H2O). Nitrogen concentrations and uptake were also significantly influenced due to green manuring and Zn fertilisation.
