Photoinduced electron transfer reaction: Photocyclization of methoxynaphthyl analogues of chalcones

Examples of photoinduced electron transfer (PET) mediated cyclization of methoxynaphthyl analogues of chalcone using electron acceptors have been reported. While the demethoxy derivative underwent photodimerization on direct irradiation, the corresponding methoxy derivative undervent cis-trans isomerization only.
