A short and efficient synthesis and characterization of various tetrahydro-beta-carboline derivatives have been synthesized using Japp-Klingmann condensation fallowed by cyclization.A new two-pot reaction sequence is used to furnish these compounds in good overall yield.Some of the compounds are screened for their antibacterial activity.
