1,4-Butanediol dimethacrylate crosslinked polyacenaphthylene supported t-butyl chromate as a new class of solid phase oxidising reagent

Copolymers of acenaphthylene with 1,4-butanediol dimethacrylate have been functionalized to incorporate the t-butyl chromate function and the resulting polymeric reagent has been used to oxidise alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in quantitative yields. The extent of oxidation is found to depend on various reaction parameters including temperature of reaction, nature of solvent, concentration of the reagent function, duration of reaction and presence of catalyst.
