Synthesis and physico-chemical propertie sof aroamtic polyesters containing S-triazine rings in the main chain

摘要

Several poluyesters have been synthesized by high temperature poly-condensation of 2-(#beta#-naphthylamino)-4,6-bis(naphthoxy-3-carbonyl chloride)-S-triazine (NANCCT) with each of the aroamtic diols: bisphenol-A (BPA), biphenol-C (BPC), 1,5- and 1,7-dihydroxynaphthalene (DHN-1,5 and DHN-1,7), 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone (DHAQ-1,4), phenolphthalein (Ph), catechol (c), resorcinol (a) and hydroquinone (Hp) and characterized by solubility, density, viscosity measurement, IR spectra and thermogravimetric analysis. All the polyesters are amorphous and soluble at high temperature in acetone, dimethyl-formamide, dimethylsulphoxide, dimethylacetamide etc. The polymer has reduced viscosities in the range 0.509-0.740 dl g~(-1) in dimethylformamide at 30 deg c. The thermal stability of polyesters, based on various temperautre characteristics, is found to decrease in the following order: PEDHN-1,5 > PEDHN-1,7>PER>PEHQ=PEPh>PEBPC=PEC>PEBPA.
