Synthesis of new quinacridines

摘要

Condensation of 4-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline 1 with 2-chloro-3-formylquinoline 2 in the presence of acetic anhdyride, acetic acid and sodium acetate affords the intermediate 3 which on cyclization using alcoholic potassium hydroxide yields the quinacridine system 4.
