alpha-Effect of hydroxamate ions in micellar mediated reactions of p-nitrophenyl acetate

The rate-surfactant concentration profiles for the reaction of p-nitrophenyl acetate (PNPA) with three hydroxamate ions (R C_6H_4CO NHO~;R = H,2-OH,4-OCH_3) in aqueous solutions of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) have been studied at 27 deg C (pR 7.7).In transferring the reaction from water to micelles of CTAB,an increase in reaction rates have been observed.
