Synthesis and biological activity of 4-oxothiazolidines and their 5-arylidenes

摘要

A series of 5-arylidene-2-aryl-3-[(2-benzothiazolylthio)-acetamidyl]-l,3-thiazolidin-4-ones have been synthesised by appropriate methods. All the compounds have been screened for their antifungal activity against Candida albicans,Fusa-rium heterosporiurn and Aspergillus niger,antibacterial activity against Bacillus substilis,Salmonella typhimurium and Es-cherchia coli,and and inflammatory activity against the carrageenan induced rat paw oedema in albino rats and anthelmintic activity against the experimental infection of Ancyclostoma ceylanicum and Hymenolepsis nana in rats. In the primary screening,some of the compounds exhibit appreciable activity. The structures of the synthesised compounds(4 and 5)have been established on the basis of their elemental analyses and spectral data.
