Synthesis and insecticidal activity of 5-amino-7-aryl-6-cyano-3-substituted-thiazolo[4,5-b]-2,3,4,7-tetrahydropyridine-2-thione and 7-aryl-6-cyano-3-substituted-2-thioxo-thiazolo [4,5-b]-2,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydropyridin-5-one

5-Amino-7-aryl-6-cyano-3-substituted-thiazolo[4,5-b]-2,3,4,7-tetrahydropyridine-2-thione 3 and 7-aryl-6-cyano-3-substituted-2-thioxo-thiazolo[4,5-b]-2,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydro pyridin-5-one 4 have been prepared by Michael addition between #alpha#,#beta#-unsaturated ketones 2 and malononitrile /ethyl cyanoacetate in the presence of excess ammonium acetate. The insecticidal activity against S. litura and T. urticeae of the title compounds have been screened.
