Lymphoid cells which reacted with BSA labelled with fluorescein or 125I were found in mesenteric and popliteal lymph nodes, spleen and lamina propria of the small intestine from unimmunized Syrian golden hamsters. Hamster and rabbit feed contain BSA and this probably is the antigenic stimulus for the cells containing antibody to BSA. Unimmunized hamsters had no serum antibody to BSA as judged by radioimmunoelectrophoresis and PGA in the guinea pig.
