Justicia lignans: Part 7-Two new diphyllin glycosides from Justicia neesii Ramamoorthy

Two new diphyllin glycosides, neesiinosides A and B, have been isolated from the methanol extract of Justicia neesii. The compounds are identified as diphyllin-4-O-[#beta#-D-glucopyranosyl(1->2)]-#beta#-D-xylopyranoside 1 and diphyllin-4-O-[#beta#-D-glucopyranosyl (1->2)]-#beta#-D-glucopyranoside 2, respectively by 2D NMR data and chemical transformations. Diphyllin 4 obtained during hydrolysis of neesiinosides A and Bh, is converted into a series of diphyllin esters 5-11, metabolites of Sauropus quadrangularis.
