Bacosterol, a new 13,14-seco-steroid and Bacosine, a new triterpene from Bacopa monniera

The phytochemical investigation of aerial parts of Bacopa monniera Wettest. has resulted the isolation of a new sterol 13,14-seco-stigma 9(11), 14(15) diene-3 #beta#-3 #beta#-ol designated as Bacosterol 1 and a new triterpene lup 20(29)-ene-3#alpha#-ol-27-oic acid named as Bacosine 2. Their structures ahve been elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical methods.
