Working with Wood is a dazzling book, with its orange-red covers sure to make bookshelf identification an easy task. It's a solid work which covers the history of the Addington Railway Workshops from establishment in 1879 through to demise in the mid-1990s when demolition gangs moved in to clear the large site for other developments. It's also the story of the author's life. Keith Brown was fascinated by everything to do with trains and railways, and it soon became clear that he would become a railwayman and that railways would be a dominating factor in his life.
