How thrilling it was to read a story on my own airport, the Albuquerque International Sunport, (Airways, April 2015). I have worked there for nearly 39 years and must say that you covered the airport very well. I was especially delighted that you mentioned the Cavalcade of Wings and its 900 models of (almost) every aircraft flown into ABQ. I have proudly donated many of these models and am working with our aviation department to increase our space and the number of display cases. Although our current terminal was built in 1965 (and expanded several times), the original terminal, built in 1939, has been preserved and is located about a five-minute walk just to the west. It now houses the offices of the TSA. However, the lobby is open to the public during regular business hours as it has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. This building is also a must-see. And, for our visitors who plan to take in Santa Fe, you must see the historic terminal at the Santa Fe Municipal Airport as well. As you mentioned, we have just begun a 15-month long renovation and, by summer 2018, the Albuquerque International Sunport will be better than ever.
