Effect of Zinc Fertilisation on Grain and Protein Yield, Nitrogen Uptake and Fertiliser Use Efficiency in Chickpea

A field experiment conducted at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute New Delhi showed that Zn application not only increased grain yield, net profit and B: C ratio, but also protein concentration in grain and nitrogen uptake by chickpea. Three sprays of zinc sulphate heptahydrate (ZSHH) or Zn-EDTA (one each at maximum vegetative growth, flowering and grain filling stage) gave best results.
