During the year 2012-13, weak monsoon led to lower demand for ferilisers. Total fertiliser nutrient consumption fell by 7.9% during 2012-13. The supply from * indigenous production also declined. The quantum fall in consumption of nutrients was proportionately higher than fall in production. The shortfall between consumption and production was fulfilled through import. Imports of most of the fertilisers declined in 2012-13 compared to the previous year, except Urea.
