A field experiment was conducted in lateritic soil in 2001 to study the effect of potassium nutrition in presence and absence of FYM on dry matter accumulation,starch,nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium concentration in sweet potato at tuber initiation and harvest.Maximum dry matter accumulation was obtained at harvest.An increasing trend in dry matter accumulation at tuber initiation and harvest upto 80 kg K_2O ha~(-1) both in presence and absence of FYM was noticed.Starch content in tubers was greatly influenced by K application and maximum of it was noticed at N @ 75 kg ha~(-1) + P_2O_5 @ 50 kg ha~(-1) + K_2O @ 120 kg ha~(-1) along with 5 t FYM ha~(-1).K application increased N content in tuber,K content in shoot and tuber.However,increased doses of K did not increase the P content of plant parts at both the stages.Integration of NPK fertilisers with FYM relatively increased dry matter,starch,sugars and nutrient concentration in plant parts as compared to those with more application of NPK.
