A field experiment was conducted on the first ratoon of sugarcane (cv.CoLk 8102) exhibiting natural chlorosis to determine the required concentration of ferrous sulphate for maximising yield and juice quality.Foliar spray treatments consisted of 0.5,1.0 and 2.0% FeSO_4 were applied thrice at weekly interval during tillering phase;suitable checks were kept for comparison.Results revealed that foliar application of FeSO_4 at all levels increased the growth parameters,yield and juice quality of chlorotic ratoon significantly over the control.However,significant response was obtained when the concentration of FeSO_4in the spray mixture was 1% resulting maximum relative agronomic effectiveness of 71%.At 2% level of FeSO_4,the spray mixture was found to be detrimental to sugarcane.Concentration of FeSO_4 required for obtaining maximum yield,brix (%) and pol (%) were found to be 1.47,1.40 and 1.45%,respectively.
