Improving Yield and Quality of Pulses through Secondary and Micronutrients

摘要

The productivity of pulses is often low due to its cultivation on marginal and sub-marginal lands with poor fertility status. Use of high analysis fertilisers free of secondary and micronutrient leading to their deficiency has augmented the problem. The area under pulses has started showing deficiency of secondary nutrients particularly sulphur and micronutrients like zinc,boron,molybdenum and iron. Response of pulse crops to 20-40 kg/ha sulphur application has been observed in different agro-ecological regions. Among micronutrients,application of 10-25 kg ZnSO4 /ha depending upon the soil status was found optimum for increasing pulse productivity. Boron and molybdenum application also showed good response in different pulses wherever they are deficient. Application of secondary and micronutrients to pulse crops is economically a viable proposition to increase pulse productivity and improving livelihood of farming community.
