Pot experiment was conducted involving four neem (Azadirachta indica) products (Neem oil,Neem cake,Nimco and Nimagold) as a coating material for prilled urea in three types of soil with wheat as a test crop to study the urea transformation,urease activity and nitrogen use efficiency.Higher concentration of NH_4~+-N was recorded in prilled urea treatment than other treatments of neem products at tillering stage,however,concentration of NH_4~+-N decreased at booting and harvesting stage of crop.There was slow transformation of NO_3~--N due to neem (products) coated treatments and neem oil proved superior than other products.The urease activity was significantly lower in treatments having neem products as compared to prilled urea.Neem oil coating has shown its superiority in enhancing the N-use efficiency,grain yield,N-concentration in grain of wheat crop in all the soils.
