FAI-MCFL Soil Testing Campaign

Under the Agriculture Promotional Programme (APP) of FAI, a Campaign on Soil Testing was organized by FAI-Southern Region (FAI-SR) in collaboration with Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited, Bangalore on July 26, 2011 at Mulanthuruthy Village in Ernakulam district in the state of Kerala. Soil samples from farmers' fields were collected and analyzed. Soil samples were analyzed for pH, EC, NPK, sulphur and micronutrients. Agriculture, Government of Kerala, Ernakulam, emphasized the need for increasing agricultural production proportionate to the rising Indian population. She advised the farmers to apply fertilisers scientifically on the basis of soil test based fertiliser recommendations, otherwise imbalanced fertiliser application occurs leading to wastage of valuable nutrients of the fertiliser products.
