Fertiliser consumption: The consumption of total fertiliser nutrients in the state increased from 1.409 million tonnes during 2006-07 to 1.592 million tonnes during 2007-08, representing a growth of 13%, over the previous year. The consumption of all the three nutrients recorded positive growth. N, P2O5 and K2O at 1.027,0.420 and 0.146 million tonnes during 2007-08, registered an increase of 10.7%, 16.2% and 21.3%, respectively, over 2006-07. The growth in consumption was positive during both the seasons. Kharif: Rabi share in total consumption unchanged at the previous level of 50:50 during 2007-08. NPK use ratio changed from 7.7:3.0:1 during 2006-07 to 7.1:2.9:1 during 2007-08. The per hectare consumption of total fertiliser nutrients increased significantly from 124.6 kg to 140.8 kg during the period.
