摘要

In any process industry, the failure analysis on plant disturbances due to instrumentation problems, confirm that the contribution of field instrument failures is more and is to the extent of 80% as compared to that of control room instrument systems. Hence it has become essential for field instruments to depend more on preventive maintenance and periodic replacement. One of the reasons of these failures is that there is no methodology to establish the performance of these reconditioned / recalibrated instruments. After reconditioning and calibration of such field instruments, it is always a challenging task for Instrumentation maintenance engineer to establish the reliability and repeatability of these reconditioned instruments. It is the need of the hour to make it possible to subject such critical instruments for several testing cycles, during plant turn around to establish their reliability till next plant turn around. With a view to have a testing facility to establish credibility and confidence on the performance of reconditioned / calibrated instruments, a programmable test jig is designed and commissioned at NFCL, Kakinada
