Increasing Efficiency of Urea Distribution in the Changed Scenario

The new Urea Pricing Policy called "Policy for Stage-Ill of New Pricing Scheme for Urea Manufacturing Units (NPS-III)" assumes importance. Not only because it brought in competitiveness in the sector but also because it aims at securing Urea supplies to farmers. This paper mainly deals with various issues like an overview of NPS having an impact on distribution of Urea and also covering other aspects of Fertiliser Monitoring System. It also covers the various methodologies/strategies that can be adopted by fertiliser companies to increase the efficiency of Urea distribution. 'Improved Marketing Practices' introduced by the FAl in 2003 has played a significant role in substantially reducing the selling cost of the companies. This has resulted in countering the stringent norms faced by the industry at Stage-I & II of NPS.
