摘要

Electronic Identification (BID) is an unworkable piece of legislation that the UK livestock industry must resist at all costs, urges the NFU's livestock board chairman, Alistair Mackintosh. In mid-August, Farmers Guardian ran an opinion piece on its back page carrying provocative comments from the Livestock Auctioneers Association, questioning the NFU's motives for investigating the advantages of a derogation that would exclude sheep under 12 months of age from the EID rules. Mr Mackintosh, however, brushed aside any criticisms aimed at the NFU and got on with the immediate job in hand - encouraging our elected representatives to fight against the implementation of EID in the UK, full stop.
