Botryosphaeria obtusa(Schw.) n. comb, andB. stevensiin. nom. occurring on cultivated grapes, andB. quercuum(Schw.) Sacc. andB. melanops(Tul.) Wint. onQuercusspp. are distinguished primarily by characteristics of their conidial states which are illustrated, described, and separated by a key. Canadian collections in the National Mycological Herbarium support the following host range and geographic distribution:B. quercuumonQuercusspp. in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario;B. melanopsonQuercusspp. in Ontario;B. obtusaonAmelanchier, Crataegus, Juglans, Malus, Ribes, Sorbus, andVitisspp. in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan;B. stevensiionVitissp. in Ontario.
