Phosphatic Fertiliser Policy A Journey through Past to Future

The GOI decontrolled P&K fertilisers in August 1992 and the subsidy was completely withdrawn.This led to sharp increase in farm gate price of these fertilisers,distortion of NPK ratio and substantial reduction in the consumption.To mitigate the impact of price rise,the Government introduced an ad-hoc fixed subsidy (known as concession) from October'92.This article reviews the phosphatic fertiliser policy and lays down the roadmap for future policy.
