WARM summer soils may form a stark comparison to the soggy 2012 season, but it could form the perfect breeding ground for slugs.Pellet manufacturer De Sangosse says last season's unprecedented pressure is unlikely to be repeated, but a large carryover of slugs is possible.But while protecting arable crops from the yield-capping pest is of paramount importance to growers, the Metaldehyde Stewardship Group (MSG) is urging farmers to stick to the voluntary guidelines for pellet applications in order to protect the future availability of the key active ingredient used in the treatment.
