The African species ofTheganopteryx(Blattaria, Ectobiidae)

AbstractTwenty‐one species of the genusTheganopteryxare known from Africa and the genus is probably confined to this continent. A key is provided to the males of twenty species, and eight new species are described:affinisShelford;bivitattaPrincis;bredoisp.n.;camerunensisShelford;dimorphaPrincis;fantasticaShelford;flavescenssp.n.;heterogamiaPrincis;ituriensisRehn;kivuensissp.n.;luciduBrunner;nitidaBorg;notataShelford;obscuraShelford;propinquasp.n.;remotevittata(Werner);rhodesiaeShelford;shabaenissp.n.;shelfordisp.n.;simillimasp.n.;villiersisp.n. Notes are given on eighteen further species of doubtful identity which have hitherto been included inTheganopteiyx, and one of these, perspicillaris Karny, is transferred to a new genusTheganosilph
