After hot deformation, static recovery softens the dislocation structure moderately. Static re-crystallization (SRX) occurs at lower rates, producing larger grains than after cold working due to the dynamically recovered substructure. In alloys it is usually faster because of increased dislocation density due to Mg solute or to large particles; however, fine dispersoids retard. In rolling of flat products, SRX between stages is more likely after early higher temperature passes, larger faster reductions, longer intervals and alloys as above. The final texture is greatly altered by such SRX so some alloys differ from Al.
