Viral hepatitis remains a major cause of chronic liver disease and one of the most common indications for liver transplantation. In this review, recent advances in treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection; the epidemiology, natural history, and treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection; and the epidemiology and clinical relevance of the newly discovered hepatitis G virus infection are presented.
